ioby seeks a part-time GIS Fellow based in Brooklyn, NY. The Fellow will play a critical role in helping the organization understand the social, economic, and physical landscapes of cities and neighborhoods where we work. Reporting to the City Partnerships Director, the Fellow will be building ioby’s capacity to use geospatial data to inform our decision-making processes.

Responsibilities will include working with teams to scope mapping projects, finding and archiving data, and creating new maps in QGIS and Google Maps. For the right candidate, this position is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of a mission-driven, community-based tech startup.

We’re looking for a person who is a creative problem-solver, detail oriented, and obsessed with maps. To do this job well, you should be capable of weighing tradeoffs and prioritizing ongoing deadlines against new urgency, based on new information daily; capable of working alone and with other team members equally; and find creative solutions that work for people on the team with various roles. We expect that the Fellow will work about 5-10 hours/week, from July - August 2018. Hours and location are flexible.



Candidates for this position should be current and recent graduate students who are creative thinkers, meticulous by nature, able to work independently, and have excellent communication and time-management skills. Exceptional undergraduate students will also be considered.
